Curriculum & Syllabus for Fifth Grade Religion
Academic Year 2020 -2021
Teacher: Mrs. Evelyn Cortez
Contact: [email protected]
Course Description
Family and Faith is an opportunity to recognize the grace of God in daily living. Religion in the
fifth grade will be focused on worshiping God in community. Students will become more familiar with the Seven Sacraments, Jesus touches our lives through the sacraments. Our celebrations of the sacraments are signs of Jesus' presence in our lives and a means for receiving his grace.
HOMEWORK
Homework in Religion is assigned on a regular basis and is expected to be turned in at our next class meet. If the student is absent, the students have as many school days as they were absent to turn in their work. It is their responsibility to come to me and ask for any missing worksheets. Please refer to the class website for posted assignments. Late homework will be marked off.
TESTS/QUIZZES
Quizzes are given at the end of every chapter, they encourage students to study regularly and they give me an opportunity to do continuous assessment. Both quizzes and tests will be announced ahead of time and posted under our "homework" tab. Unit tests will also be announced and given. It is the responsibility of the student to come to me if she/he has missed a quiz/test, and to make it up within one week.
EVALUATION
Grades are based on homework, tests, quizzes, class work and participation. If you or the student wants to discuss their grades with me please email me to see me and schedule an appointment either before or after school.
